Meema's 75th Birthday

"I'm so excited....." I thought in school, gazing at the clock. "Ninth period ends in like five minutes!"

Why was I so excited? I was excited because today was Friday, October 12th, 2007; the day I had been long awaiting. I had been awaiting this day because after school today my mother, brother Jared, and I would drive to Seaside. (My dad was on a business trip in California, but would meet us on Saturday.)

"BrInG!!" Rang the ninth period bell. Finally! My math teacher, Mr. Talley, dismissed us and I squirmed through the crowd to get to my locker, that was at the end of the hall! I arrived at my locker, got my backpack and books, then trotted off to find my bus which was always in the same place outside.

Everything at home was a blur; It went so fast! I finished packing, waited for Jared to get home, popped in the car, and went to fetch Meema from her house.

We arrived at the "White Pearl Hotel" the same time as Paul & Stephanie and Ron, Perki, & Amelie! Weird huh? That day, we went swimming in the indoor pool (that reeked of chlorine!) and hung-out basically. Dava stopped by too. Oh yea! We also played the crane...you know where you get a toy from a machine....it was fun and surprisingly exciting. Luci, Rob, Cathryn, and Lucas finally arrived at ten.

The next day was Saturday, the actual party and Meema's actual birthday! We all headed over to "Klee's" Restaurant. Upstairs, they had a big room where we partied! The Russells (Gemma, John, Amanda, Victoria, Jack, Felicia, and Sophia) and the Cooks ( Dava, Justin, & Dylan) came to the party as well!

It was fun. We played a trivia game about Meema (with prizes), ate brunch, ate cake, watched a cool slide show, made a movie, and other cool stuff.

When the party ended, we arrived back at the hotel, swam in the pool and hung-out in each others' rooms. So awesome!! Plus, at night, we went on the boardwalk to this fun arcade (where we won incredibly small prizes for 1200 tickets) and ate at a little restaurant there....ALL OF US!!! (Which is a lot of people!!)

Finally came Sunday, the last day. Everyone put on a white shirt and jeans and headed down to the beach. On the beach, we took pictures in our matching outfits: family pictures, grandchildren, children, and last but not least, everyone! At the end of the pictures, some of us kids ran down by the shore and got soaked!! But i didn't care, I'm a kid I don't care about getting wet. Anyway, it was fun.

Next for lunch, (after we realized four cars couldn't follow each other) we decided to go back to Klee's to eat. It was a great meal! I got to talk to my cousins like Cathryn, Lucas, and Amelie. But, sadly (BOO-HOO), some people had to leave straight after the pictures. The Hynes left right after Klee's and so did Stephanie & Paul. Now, my mom, me, Meema, Perki, Ron, and Amelie were the only ones left.

We drove back to Meema's house where I hung out with my little cousin Amelie (so adorable!) and Meem's tested out some of her new presents! Eventually, we did have to leave there to get home in time for dinner, but by then....I was happy to be home.

Cousins From Massachusetts

Last week my two younger cousins, Lucas and Cathryn came to my house all the way from Massachusetts!!!

Their parents had to go to a wedding in Pittsburg, so Lucas and Cathryn stayed with my brother, Jared, and I.

We had loads of fun!

We went in th pool and my other cousins, Amanda ,Victoria, Jack, Felicia, and Sophia came over for a swim with us.

I also went to Chuck E. Cheese's with Lucas, Cathryn, Jack, Felicia, & Jared, but that's another story for another post.

We had SO much fun together!!!

Golfing With Meema

On Wednesday, June 27th, Meema took me, Olivia, and my younger brother, Jared, to a mini golf course.

It was steaming hot temperature, but we still managed to play all eighteen holes.

Well, sometimes my brother and I can be competitive, very competitive!

We were pretty much neck and neck. We tied, I won, he won. Each hole was different, but it seemed pretty even.

The only thing that kept me going through those eighteen courses was the thought that,"I can't quit now, I'm gonna win!"

So like I said, we were steaming hot.

Guess what? At the 17th hole Meema brought over water spray bottles. Don't get me wrong, it was really nice and I thanked her over and over again about a million times, but the 17th HOLE??? I wish I had them earlier!

Anyhow, at the end my mom added up the scores.


"It's a tie." she said.


"A TIE???" My brother and I asked in disbelief.

I looked over at the score sheet it was 71 to 71.

I added the scores up again. 71 to 71.

I couldn't believe it! I knew we were pretty even, but that even?

Oh well, what can you do?

I guess our competitiveness got us nowhere.

In the end, no one won.





But even worse, no one lost.
